ERRORS AS PROCESS AND PRODUCT IN METAPHOR TRANSLATION
Abstract
Error analysis in translation is a matter of heated debate, especially when it is enshrouded in the theoretical maze of analytical criteria applied by the different schools in Translation Studies. A common problem is the entanglement of purely lexical and grammatical categories with mental and conceptual ones, due to the analytical fallacy of misconstruing two processes – translation as product and as process. The current article seeks to redress this misconception with regard to error analysis via the use of corpora.
