DIFFICULTIES IN TRANSLATING TURKISH BORROWINGS IN THE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF ANDRIC'S WORKS

Abstract

This research has arisen as a result of comparison of the original great number of IvoAndriс’s works with the translated ones. This work deals with defining cultural mediators, emphasizing the importance of knowing cultures of languages, indicating the problems of translating cultural elements, Turcisms in this case. Primarily, it deals with the analysis of translated Turcisms in Andric’s works and it points out some misunderstandings of ten found while translating Turcisms into the English language.
