THE NOBEL PRIZES IN THE NEW CENTURY. IDEOLOGY-BASED CHOICES
Abstract
What does the profile of the Nobel Prize for literature in the new century look like and what principles is its allocation based on? In order to answer this question, the text dwells on the amount of politics involved in the decision, as well as on the place of geography and the wish to overcome Europocentrism and Americanocentrism, on the reasons why there are so many women among the laureates in the new decade, and where that leaves pure literary values.
