A NEW VISION ABOUT GREEK PERSONAL NAMES IN THE BULGARIAN ANTHROPONOMICAL SYSTEM (in the context of anthroponomical inheritance/succession and the typology of motivating appellatives)
Abstract
The process of borrowing names from other languages is a major way of enriching each system of personal names. Few comprehensive studies exist of Greek anthroponomy loan-words in the Bulgarian onomastic scholarship. In the following article we make an attempt to systematize Greek personal names in the Bulgarian anthroponymikon as we describe some principal characteristics and features of these names basic for our personal names system. We have also included some of the author’s principles and ideas about the analysis in the study of foreign personal names in each language.
