NOUN PHRASE PROSODY – RHYTHMIC AND SEMANTIC-SYNTACTIC CONSIDERATIONS
Abstract
In modern French the bipolar model explains not only the position of an attributive adjective with respect to the noun which it modifies but also the arrangement of several adjectives inside the noun phrase. The ratio situational value vs. referential value of any constituent of the noun phrase (including, in addition to the determiner and the noun, one or more attributive adjectives) might be bound, as shown by acoustic-phonetic analyses, to some prosodic properties of the noun phrase.
