TROPES AND LITERARY FIGURES IN THE SPANISH PRESS DISCOURSE (OBSERVATONS ON THE ARTICLES ON ECONOMY IN THE NEWSPAPER EL PAÍS)
Abstract
This article is the second part ot a study of the stylistic aspect of the way economic issues are presented in the Spanish press and is based on sources from the newspaper El País which enjoys great popularity among readers and is an important factor in the formation of public opinion. The first part deals with the metaphor, followed by other tropes and literary figures such as comparison (analogy), metonymy, hyperbole, epithet, litotes, euphemism, etc. The purpose is to demonstrate how they raise the expressivity of the exact functional language of news and its analysis.
