Abstract
Compound personal names are put under reduction during the process of their everyday use. Those hypocoristic stems are obtained by ignoring the morpheme limits, existing in the basic form of the name, and represent a complex of sounds, ending in a vowel. That process of reduction can be observed within the limits of the two components of the dibasic name and is linked to its complete disintegration, for example: BO- (Bogomil, Bogomir), BRA- (Branimir, Branislav, Bratimil, Bratislav), RA- (Radomir, Radoslav).
