SHORT NOTES ON THE BULGARIAN INTERWAR CABARET CULTURE
Abstract
The article focuses on the cabaret as a typical topos for European (and Bulgarian) interwar life. The cabaret culture is seen as a combination of specific gestures that present the bacchanalian freedom, the social engagement and spontaneous literary reflexivity of the interwar person. In the first part of the study Nikolay Raynov’s article “The Cabaret Style” (1929) is analyzed. The object of the second part of the article are the texts of some popular cabaret songs by anonymous or famous song writers such as Stoyan Milenkov and Dzhib.
