NOTION DE SIÈCLE (THE NOTION OF CENTURY) IN REVIVAL PERIOD JOURNALISM

Abstract

The paper presents the development of the notion of century in one of saliently marked press publications during the Revival period – the newspaper “Century” under the editorship of Marko Balabanov. In parallel, the text traces the conceptual search for and shaping of the notion in the French press at the time. The examples offered and the ensuing correspondences suggest a range of possible direct and indirect influences between the Bulgarian Revival period press and the French periodical press.
