ON THE RELATION BETWEEN THE ELEMENTS IN PHRASES OF THE TYPE ALLES GUTE, ETWAS/NICHTS GUTES
Abstract
In this article we investigate the relation between the immediate constituents in phrases of the type indefinite pronoun + nominalized adjective. More precisely, we consider syntagmas of the kind alles Gute, etwas/nichts Gutes, that only formally differ in the flexion of the nominalized adjective. To this end, at first the use and the related syntactical status of the pronouns and the notion phrase are commented on. The analysis is based on distributional criteria and constituent tests like permutation, substitution, elimination and coordination tests.
