COORDINATION AND ALTERNATION OF CONJUNCTIONS IN COMPLEX SENTENCES
Abstract
The article examines a case of alternation between coordinating and subordinating conjunction in the complex sentence. It studies the semantic and formal conditions that allow the same relationship between the events in two sentences to be represented by a coordinating conjunction(s) and by a subordinating conjunction for purpose (“daˮ). The alternation between these conjunctions is interpreted in terms of features such as tracking, controllability, personality.
