BULGARIAN TOPONYMS IN ANTARCTICA

Abstract

The study, based on the onomastic material in the periodically updated and online accessible Bulgarian Antarctic Gazetteer (June 2018), presents the main ways in which new toponyms appear. The analysis is based on quantitative data, derived from the created toponymical corpus, taking into account the onomastic classifications. The nominative processes proprialisation and transonymisation are interpreted with a view to the theory of lexical motivation.
