Born in 1922, two years before the publication of the First Manifesto of Surrealism, Robbe-Grillet has never participated in the movement of André Breton, however, the emergence in 1975 of La Belle Captive, a novel which contains 77 paintings by René Magritte, suggests a link between the Nouveau Roman and the surrealist aesthetics. This is the relationship that our article will reveal.en_US
