Abstract

Where do the boundaries of political correctness in fiction and journalism lie? How can one translate the specifics of one nation to foreigners? What happens to the language, when it starts measuring stereotypes? These are but a few of the issues raised by the book „La testa degli italiani“ by world famous Italian journalist Beppe Severgnini. They will be analyzed in the light of collections such as „Why We Are What We Are“ (ed. Ivan Elenkov and Rumen Daskalov), and works of fiction such as Momo Kapor’s „Magija Beograda“ („The Magic of Belgrade“).
