Abstract

Italian Renaissance Literature in Bulgaria – Syllabi and Axiologies Italian Renaissance literature is a fundamental component of any West European literature syllabus. Therefore the choice of authors and titles belonging to this period and the structuring of the sillabi play a decisive role for the overall vision about literary history and its respective ideological presumptions. The paper presents some preliminary observations on the relation between, and the reception of, Italian renaissance literature by means of university and high school programmes, textbooks, and other teaching materials and the political background in the period from the last two decades of the 19th century to the present moment.
