ДНЕВНИКЪТ НА ТУБЕРКУЛОЗНИЯ

Abstract

The focus of the present research is on the rationalization of a motive, contained in three Bulgarian novels – „A ten-day reign…“ by A. Shopov, „The price of gold“ by G. Stoev, and „Wolf hunt“ by Ivailo Petrov – about the narrator who is ill. Those three authors interpret the disease as a necessary difficulty through which the individual person has to pass while trying to realize his plans (and dreams) for existence that is satisfactory for him both in his private and public lives. Different types of meaning could be found in the very act of writing. First, it is a therapy – the tuberculous man forgets about his suffering body by channelling his energy to towards the spirit. Second, it is like a confession and a balance of exactly how many important things in life (private and public) he has succeeded in realizing. Third, those written words have become a kind of a testament to those who are still alive and in it all the suffered wisdom, but not a God’s wisdom, and that of a human being, is collected for people. And last, but not least, even when he has to play the role of a person, defeated physically by the disease, in the fields of the diary the master of speech overcomes the illness, and even very death, subjugating them to his dream about real life.
