FROM ETHNOGRAPHY TO HISTORY OR THE ISSUE OF SCHOLASTIC MODELLING OF THE PAST
Abstract
An unpublished manuscript is examined from the personal archive of Yoakim Gruev – notes on the teaching of history in the school of Plovdiv in the 60s of the 19th century. This is the first known document, from which it becomes evident that the subject ‘History of the World’ was taught as a story about the traditional culture of the separate ethnic communities in the past
