СЛАБИ СТРАНИ И ШАНСОВЕ ЗА СЪВРЕМЕННАТА СЛАВИСТИКА. КРИЗА И ПЪТИЩА КЪМ ВЪЗРАЖДАНЕ

Abstract

The crisis of the Slavic studies and humanities in general has been caused by many political, economical, cultural, and educational factors of the modern world. Research scope and context, as well as a variety of methodologies offered to modern humanities are choices faced currently by the Slavic studies. Regional, comparative and cultural studies are the three trends of the present day humanities that offer perspectives for the renewal and refreshing update of the research programme, although they might pose a threat and lead to erasing the identity of the discipline. The regional formula is attractive thanks to its very broad research context including, apart from the philological trend typical for the Slavic studies, also historical, cultural, ethnological, anthropological and primarily political perspectives. Slavic studies based on the comparative paradigm mean – according to its advocates – coexistence of the discipline within, or together with other methodological projects or worldviews: postcolonial, territorial, gender, or comparative studies. The cultural paradigm direction within the modern Slavic studies means blurring the boundaries between literature and culture studies, offering a refreshing opening mainly towards the issue of social importance. Moreover, Slavic studies cannot remain within its natural cultural circle, that is Europe, but must address global and universal problems instead.
