HUMBLENESS AND PATIENCE IN RUSSIAN HOMILIES FROM THE ХІ – ХІV CENTURIES
Abstract
Humility and patience are the foundation of all Christian virtues; they participate in shaping the image of holiness. The Old Russian hagiography of the 11th– 14th centuries allows tracing the development of the content of these elements of the worldview system of the Russian saint from a simple definition as a state of mind to its transformation into a phenomenon of humility.
