ON THE STRUCTURAL AND DERIVATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MICROTOPONYMS

Abstract

The object of research interest is the study of Bulgarian microtoponymy on the territory of Western Bulgaria. The analysis is based on the onymization of the orographic lexis in almost 17 000 microtoponyms. The main focus of this article is the structural and word-formation characteristics of the microtoponimy of the researched area. The issue of the dialectal influence upon microtonyms has also been considered.
