This presentation aims to study the processes of adaptation of directly borrowed English words in the economic texts of the contemporary New Greek press. The specifics with the adjustment of Anglicisms have been traced on every grammar level – phonological, graphical, morphological and semantic. The selection of a specific topical area is motivated by the fact that economics is one of the most dynamically changing spheres in the life of a society and it is there that we can see the most intensive replenishment with new (newly borrowed and newly formed) lexical units. The formal-semantic parameters of Anglicisms with higher frequency of use are considered, the main tendencies of their adaptation to the language norms of contemporary Greek language are formed, the general regularity is brought out and the perspectives for the words of this lexical and grammatical class are described.
