FROM ECONOMICS TO METAPHOR (OBSERVATIONS ON THE DISCOURSE OF ARTICLES ON ECONOMIC ISSUES IN EL PAÍS NEWSPAPER)

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to examine the stylistic aspect of the way economic issues are presented in the newspaper El País which enjoys great popularity among readers and is an important factor in the formation of public opinion. Our observations demonstrate an interesting trend: the exact functional language of news and its analysis along with the respective terminology is often combined with a figurative language which uses tropes and literaty and stylistic means, mostly metaphors which are the object of our study.
