RESISTANCE AS THE CONCEPT OF SALVATION IN IVO ANDRIC'S STORIES
Abstract
In this paper the author points out that the aspiration of characters previously considered, as well as in many Andrić’s short stories, is actually aspiration for a “higher harmony”. It is like an ideal for which man yearns or in which epic characters in our folk literature and tradition come into being. The issue of meaning is not set as an existential possibility, but with the amount of optimism and belief, somewhere even naïve, careless understanding of things, we get into the so called total game. It is similar with Fra Marko, Marko Kraljević… Silence and tolerance of the many in short stories by Ivo Andrić make this aspiration for harmony and salvation possible.
