The paper looks into ways of conceptualizing time in Bulgarian, Russian and English. Based on the theory of conceptual metaphor introduced by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson, it offers various metaphorical formulae and provides illustration with multiple examples from each of the languages in question. While being consistent with cognitive linguistics claims about universality of human conceptualizaiton across languages and cultures they nonetheless show some differences in realization of metaphors through concrete phrases.en_US
