BULGARIAN MICROTOPONYMY AS AN INVALUABLE HISTORICAL SOURCE
Abstract
The microtoponymy of Western Bulgaria (Radomir region) is reviewed, with a particular emphasis on its importance for locating missing settlements from the Bulgarian lands. Based on microtoponymic material only, the locations of villages existing during the XV-XVIII century on the Bulgarian lands, marked as missing or unspecified in historical sources, are pointed out. 11 no longer existing settlments, mentioned in historical sources – mainly Turkish documents – have been localized in the area.
