LITERARY RECEPTION: THE LIFE OF DON QUIXOTE IN BULGARIA
Abstract
The subject of this article is the process of the reception of literature The subject of this article is the process of the reception of literature generated in the act of translation. It aims to present a short overview of the main thesis in reception theory and to make a periodization of the reception of Western European literature in Bulgaria. The examination goes through the history of the Bulgarian translations of “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha” from the Bulgarian Revival period till the end of the socialist era (1989), with an emphasis on the role of the famous Spanish novel in the history of Bulgarian culture and literature.
