TURKISH NOUNS DENOTING PERSONS, FORMED FROM THE FORMANT -DAş
Abstract
In modern Turkish, which according to the typological classification is referred to as typical representative of agglutinative languages, suffixation is the main word formation process. Оne of the poorly understood problems in modern theory of word formation is the issue of generalized derivational meaning.
In present study, the main focus is put on the semantics of the derivational formant -DAş.
The subject of the researching are single-root words (represented by derivational pairs) related to word-motivation relationships with the aim of classifying them with respect to their derivative meanings and the formant with particular semantics. Motivated units are researched in a synchronic manner and the diachronic approach is not neglected.
