THE DEVIL IN THE BOSNIAN AND SPANISH PHRASEMS: CULTURAL CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS
Abstract
The figure of God and the devil most frequently found in phrases motivated by religion. The aim of this paper is to present a contrastive analysis of Spanish and Bosnian phrasemes containing a component motivated by the figure of the devil. Even though it is a contrastive analysis of the two cultures geographically distant, the presence of elements inspired by religious beliefs it is evident, and, in some cases, phraseological equivalents can be mentioned, despite the fact that they find their motivation in three different religions (Catholicism, Islam and Orthodoxy). It is our intention to point out the similarities and differences between the phrases inspired by the figure of the devil.
