REFERENCE THEORY AND ITS APPLICATION IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE NOUN DETERMINATION IN BULGARIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The study reviews the main opinions in the reference theory in philosophy, logic and linguistics. The research interest is focused on the application of theory in the description of the noun determination in Bulgarian language. The reference is examined from a communicative point of view. We assume that there are reference and non-reference noun phrases in the utterance. They are marked differently and are dependent on communicative knowledge and intentions of the subject.
