| dc.description.abstract | The cultural and social characteristics of the 1880s were defined by the chaos associated with the complex transitioning processes in the country. The national idea is a reunial for this decade. Amongst the principals, whose resilience to initiate methodical strategy of establishing national cultural models, was Ivan Vazov. Besides his professional assignments and duties in Plovdiv, Vazov was investing in institutionalizing the foundations of what now is the National Theater.
The article gives an overview of Vazovs pursuits in the early to mid 80s in various capacities (“Narodnii glas“, “Nauka“, “Zora“); the member of the minicipal council and last, but not least, the prominent playwright.
