The present work analyses the prosodic structure of current Bulgarian hypocoristics. They provide information about the default stress in the language with lexical accentuation. The study material was obtained in two productive studies with informants. A group of templatic hypocoristics could be consistently described as syllabic trochee (Pólly, Vásko). There are almost no one-syllable hypocoristics (typical for English and Russian), and only few accented on the ultimate syllable (Miták). The lack of the first type is an evidence for the syllable organization of the Bulgarian foot, and the lack of the second type confirms the trochaic foot type.en_US
