This report represents a small part of the author's future dissertation work “The dance of death – genre-thematic impulses and national concretizations.” It focuses on two works titled Dance of Death – one by Hugo Ball, the other by Bernhard Kellerman. Foci of attention include the correlation between these two works and the Danse macabre tradition, as well as the impact of the two world wars on the two authors and on the genre-thematic impulse tradition. Hugo Ball describes the horrors of the first World war and Bernhard Kellerman depicts the nightmares of World War II. The two works give a new opportunity for the impulse Danse Macabre to be developed.en_US
