Alexandar Peshkovsky is a remarkable Russian scholar from the beginning of the twentieth century. His most famous work is Russkiy sintaksis v nauchnom osveshchenii (Russian Syntax in Scientific Light). this paper aims to describe and comment on the non-ordered classification of the speech parts in Russian language, proposed by Peshkovsky. The differentiation of the words takes into account their morphological appearance and their syntactic implementations, as the grammatical categories are opposed to “syntactic“ (coordinated) and “non-syntactic“ (non-coordinated). The main parts of speech are: nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. These four types of speech parts determine the rest ones which Peshkovsky qualifies as “mixedˮ. Among them, we find the participle, the verbal adverb, the infinitive, and others. There is also a division of the unchangeable non-lexical words. There is no pronoun and numerical name among the speech parts.en_US
