The object of study in the present work is the Bulgarian reception of the Russian didactic literature in the first half of the 20th century. Whereas the ideas of K. Ushinski’s school prevailed in the first stage of the period, there was a growing interest into the current European, including Russian, studies on native language training. The methodological approach of L. Georgiev was highly influenced by the views of Alexander Alferov, and the approach of I. Hadzhov by the views of K. B. Barhin, E. S. Istrina, and P. F. Afanasiev. In the 20s of the 20th century, the positive impact of the latest Russian methodological approaches facilitated the process of overcoming the restrictive Herbarian approach in the educational system in Bulgaria.en_US
