Federico García Lorca had a deep knowledge of Classical Literature and he often defended the need to recover the spirit of Greek tragedy. Most literary critics agree on the existence of a tragic character in Yerma and Bodas de sangre, plays that Lorca identified as tragedies. However, because the author added the subtitle “drama” to this play, there still is disagreement about whether it is possible to consider La casa de Bernarda Alba as a real tragedy.en_US
