This article focuses on absence built as a utopian model in Musil's novel „The Man without Qualities“ and Suskind's novel „Perfume“. Although distant in time and meaningful features the two novels build a specific connection based on searching the idea of the „absolute“. The statement here is that „The Man without Qualities“ prescribes a recipe for achieving the absolute and „Perfume“ literally and metaphorically is the full implementation of this recommendation.en_US
