Transcription of oral speech is an interesting challenge for students and a useful practice in teaching French. In the philological education where practical training in language is combined with a thorough theoretical and experimental knowledge, spelling transcription is enhanced by partial phonetic and acoustic analysis of certain passages, such as those with difficult to decode phonetic units with stylistic deviations. The aim of this study is to present a generalized template of acoustic analysis of short texts focusing on the specific needs of the French-language university courses.en_US
