Mythical Foundations in the Story „The Bridge over the Zepa River“ The complex world of artistic imagination in the story “The Bridge over the Zepa River” gives rise to interesting possibilities of interpretations. In the deeper layers of meaning there are several important mythical foundations. Among them are: water in a wide spectre of archaic impressions of the Biblical flood; the story of Hades and the river of the dead, the Dedalus-and-Orpheuslike perspective of a craftsman and an artist, as well as the bridge and its symbolic connection.
