Ivo Andric’s literary creation for children can be observed through complex and symbolic contents of the texts of short stories in the collection entitled Children. In this paper the author considers in details the phenomenon of play and struggle of children-heroes by analyzing their experiences of play that adjoin physical and spiritual struggle. Multiethnic worlds in which children grow up have left deep roots that will extend while they grow older. Ivo Andric masterfully shapes heroes’ psychology, their fears, and call for play which resembles life play and the philosophy of treating others.en_US
