This article examines the comparison between paronymy and paronyms. In it I discuss the nature of paronymy, different kinds of paronyms and basic paradigms formed by various suffixes. The comparison with Polish shows that there is no lexical symmetry between the two languages. Bulgarian paronymic pairs have various equivallents in Polish: they could be related to word polysemy, or with different onomasiologic stem, there could also be analogy between Bulgarian and Polish lexemes, and, in some rare cases, there could be no lexical equivallent at all.en_US
