PARADIGMATIC STRESS AS AN INTERMEDIATE STAGE BETWEEN GRAMMATICAL AND RHYTHMIC NON-PHONOLOGICAL STRESS STRESS IN THE BALKAN-SLAVIC VERNACULARS
Abstract
This paper examines the position of the stress in the Balkan Slavic vernaculars with expiratory accent. Three distribution areas have been observed: a) in the eastern area the grammatical stress remains, b) a rhythmic nonphonological stress has formed in the western area, c) dialects with paradigmatic stress have formed on the territory between dialectal areas with grammatical and rhythmic stress.
