THE „BULGARIAN GRAMMAR“ OF NEOFIT RILSKI AMONG THE GRAMMARS FROM THE MID-XIX CENTURY
Abstract
This research attempts to show the unique character of the „Bulgarian Grammar“ (1835) on one side, in the context of the Slavic Bulgarian grammars of Neofit Bozveli and Emanuil Vaskidovich (1835) and of Hristaki Pavlovich (1836), and on the other side in comparison with the first new Bulgarian grammar of Ivan Bogorov (1844). The linguistic points of view of Neofit Rilski, the aims, the character and the structure of the textbook, the selection and the representation of the grammatical and lexical material are examined and commented on. The peculiarities of the language, used by the author when writing his Grammar are also tracked.
