INTERJECTIONS IN JOKES
Abstract
As a result of semantic, syntactic and pragmatic analysis of jokes we can identify the following functions of interjections in them: general expressive, emotional, figurative, illustrative, replacement, reinforcing, duplicated by a gesture, national-specific and ethnic speech characteristics of a character, hyperbolic expressiveness of borrowed interjections compared to “domestic” interjection, euphemization, and perhaps the main – entertaining, creating a humorous effect, often resulting from puns, etc.
