| dc.description.abstract | This essay discusses the Bulgarian translations of free indirect discourse in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and Emma. The author’s use of hybrid FID, with quotation marks but in the third person, seems to be often transfigured by the translators. Re-narration is frequently the technique of choice to render FID in Bulgarian, which means a loss of the immediate access to the character’s consciousness. | en_US |
