RIJEC KRAJISNICKA BY GAVRO VUCKOVIC KRAJISNIK: THEMES, IDEAS AND STYLISTIC FEATURES OF THE WORK

Abstract

The paper deals with the Rijec krajisnicka, a polemic literary text by Gavro Vuckovic Krajisnik, a writer and a cultural and political figure in Bosnia and Herzegovina of the second half of the 19th century, whose oeuvre has never been fully studied and critically valued. Krajisnik belongs to the literary tradition of the 19th-century Bosnia and Herzegovina, which originated and developed away from the mainstream Serbian literary circles. This tradition has never been systematically approached, with only partial descriptions of certain periods and writers. With this in mind, the author analytically discusses Krajisnik’s first piece, Rijec krajisnicka, viewing it in a broader literary history, socio-political and cultural milieu, treating it not only as a literary text but an important testament to social changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina of that period.
