MEETING THE OTHER – A POINT OF VIEW OF JEAN ORIZET
Abstract
The text aims to analyze the image of the other/ the foreigner in two stories in Orizet’s collection “La Poussière d’Adam”. In order to follow the individual perspective of the French author we compare the images of the Arab in “Rencontre avec Job” and “Découverte du désert des Tartares”. We suggest the thesis that Orizet approaches the other from a humanistic and cultural point of view, which allows for a melting of differences and for an exchange of places. In this way, Orizet achieves a generalized human aspect placed above all ethnical, cultural and religious concepts.
