THE UTOPIAN SPACE OF THE KUNSTKAMMER
Abstract
The current paper aims to compare the cabinet of curiosities as a space
with the utopian space as it is examined by Foucault. The Кunstkammer is
interpreted as a text, a compendium of the Universe that recounts the totality of
the world. The paper draws connections between the collections, the
Renaissance utopia and science fiction based on the way they examine the
collecting and organising of the knowledge about nature and its anomalies, and
the way the subject of creating new alternative worlds is present in them.
