TERRORISM AND INTERPRETATION

Abstract

In looking to overcome the difficulties in defining terrorism, the article presents a hermeneutic attempt in understanding the phenomenon. Focusing on the problems that arise in the process of defining the terrorist act, the text suggests a “hermeneutics of terrorism” as an interpretative approach towards the specific demands of the object. By trying to define the terrorist act through it’s definitional elements, the text presents paths for the hermeneutic understanding of the terrorist act.
