THE MANIPULATIVE ASPECT OF COGNITIVE METAPHORS IN CONTEMPORARY BULGARIAN POLITICAL SPEECHES
Abstract
The article presents an analysis of cognitive metaphors in the speech of
contemporary Bulgarian politicians. This study aims to trace the way for the
formation and functioning of the manipulative nature of cognitive metaphors.
We examine current political speeches that are productive for creating a metaphorical
situation. The study analyzes language resources used to achieve
the manipulative aspect of cognitive metaphors in spontaneous political
speeches. The examples given are excerpted from current public statements
of politicians.
