ELECTIVE AFFINITIES: CONCEPTUALIZATIONS ON TIME IN THE DIALOGUE BOTEV – RAKOVSKI
Abstract
The paper explores the poetic relationship between Georgi Rakovski and
Hristo Botev through a comparative analysis of the time constructions in
some of their works. It focuses on the reception of constructive elements
from the poetry of Rakovski and their revaluation and representation in
Botev’s works. The main observations are related to the poems “The Forest
Traveler” and “Hadji Dimitar” and their intertextual relationship and in
particular the re-creation of the mythological model regarding the care by the
wood nymphs. The result is intriguing with respect to the holistic approach of
putting “the hero” in the axis of the Bulgarian Revival literature.
